Fable Legends Will Be Free to Play

Lionhead, the studio behind the upcoming 4v1 game Fable Legends for the Xbox One and PC, has announced that the game will be free to play when it launches later this year.  Like Killer Instinct, which is also on the Xbox One, the game will contain heroes that will be free for a limited time on a rotating schedule.  If you enjoy playing with a particular hero, you can purchase access to that hero permanently for a fee or just wait until that hero is free again.  All of your progress with each hero will be saved, even if it’s not currently being offered for free.  Based on the FAQ with the developers, it seems that Lionhead plan to release all story content for free but only charge for the heroes and cosmetic purchases.  You will be spending real world money to buy gold in game and then with that gold you will buy your items.  For a game that I honestly didn’t have much hype for, this is an interesting way to release a game and I’ll be sure to check it out when it releases.  For more information, check out the newest trailer below.
