NCSoft announced today that their most recent MMORPG Wildstar, which released less than a year ago, is going Free to Play this fall. The move to free to play will allow any person to download and play the game without spending a single cent according to the FAQ website. Like other free to play games, Wildstar will have a cash shop in game that will offer purchaseable upgrades to your account, novelty items, skins, and other such items like the other games on the market have. There will also be a sort of VIP subscription model built into the game which will allow you to pay you to subscribe for additional benefits. For the full list of benefits as well as a full F.A.Q. of what to expect, hit up Wildstar’s new page on the Free to Play move found here. Having played WildStar at launch, I thoroughly enjoyed my time but I always knew free to play land was right around the corner. In a world in which WoW and Guild Wars 2 dominate, it’s hard to differentiate yourself, although WildStar did an admirable job. If you enjoy MMORPG games and want to check out a pretty decent game, be sure to download it when it goes F2P. Who knows, maybe it’ll end up like Star Wars: The Old Republic did and be better off after the switch. I’ll definitely be hopping back into the game to see how things go when the change is made. Be sure to check out the trailer below for the announcement.
