Activision announced recently the return Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater series. The first of it’s kind game to come to next gen consoles, Pro Skater 5 hopes to bring back what was so appealing about the first game and mix in some online play and new levels. Like most franchise, the Pro Skater series took a serious dive in quality once they tried to keep up a pace of yearly releasing and offerings of useless clunky peripherals. The big question won’t be if Pro Skater 5 can reignite the magic that made it a household name back in 99′ but if there is still room in the market for an arcade style skater game of this caliber. With technique focused games like Skate and downloadable indie games like Ollie Ollie out competing for gamers attention.
In Pro Skater will boast new levels, collectable power ups and projectiles. All with a drop in drop out online component and players will be able to create and share custom built skate parks. No word on a release date but it is being handled by Robomodo and Disruptive games. As someone that religiously lived out their pro skater dreams through Tony Hawk, I remain cautiously optimistic they can bring the series back. Check back with The Dadcade for more info as we get it.
